Cougars finish 24th in national meet
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Adams State of Colorado ran away with both the men’s and women’s team championships Saturday in the 2008 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships at Cooper’s Lake Campground.
CSU, running in its first national championship meet under Coach J.D. Evilsizer, finished last in the 24-team field.
John Neill (123rd) was the low CSU runner, covering the 10K race in 34 minutes. Senior Roger Hagues finished 139th at 34:47. Tim English was 13 seconds behind Hagues at 35:00.
The next three CSU finishers were separated by 19 seconds — Stephen Waynick (148) 35:04, Stewart Helton (150) 35:15, and David Marley (152) at 35:23. Phillip Burks covered the course in 38:37.
