Man robs Columbus convenience store

Police are looking for a man who robbed a Columbus convenience store at gunpoint Friday afternoon.

At around 2:40 p.m., a man entered the Steam Mill Road Food Mart, 4451 Steam Mill Road, and pulled a small semi-automatic gun on the clerk, said Columbus Police Sgt. Harvey Hatcher.

The gunman demanded money and made off with a undisclosed amount. He was last seen on foot, running west on Steam Mill Road towards Southern Pines Drive, Hatcher said.

The gunman is described as a white male in his 20s, about 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and a blue knit hat.
