LaGrange police catch forgers

Police in LaGrange, Ga., have arrested Frederick Smith, 50, of LaGrange and Treslyn Smith, 39, of LaGrange and charged them with forgery in the first degree.

Wednesday, LaGrange police officers responded to All Pro Chevrolet on New Franklin Road where the suspects were attempting to purchase three cars with as total of more than $124,000 with a counterfeit bonded promissory note alleged to have issued by the United States Department of the Treasury.

The investigation continues.
